5 Best Adjustable Bed Frames – Buying Guide, explores the features, pros and cons, and the differences between 5 adjustable bed frames that come without the mattress; Linenspa, Lucid L300, iDealBed i4, Sven and Sons, and Dynasty.
Why would you want a frame and not a mattress? Maybe you already have a mattress compatible with an adjustable frame, or perhaps you wish to choose separate manufacturers. You may have some other reason. But one thing is certain; when you purchase an adjustable bed frame without exploring its features or comparing it to different frames, there is a chance you could be paying for something that doesn’t best fit your wants and needs. By reading this comparison, you will also have the opportunity to narrow down your decision on which bed frame to purchase.
At the bottom of this post, a side-by-side comparison table gives you a quick visual of the five frames discussed.

Video: Linenspa Adjustable Bed Base

Pros
- Easy Assembly
- Budget-Friendly
- Compatible With Most Mattresses Under 14″
Cons
- Lack of Features
- Wired Remote
- Not Available In All Bed Sizes
Linenspa Adjustable Bed Frame is a very budget-friendly option. Though it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of some other frames and bases, it does what an adjustable frame is supposed to do – elevate your head and leg/foot areas.
Weighing approximately 88 pounds, you may find you’ll need another person’s help in moving it. Being easy to assemble shouldn’t take long before you have it up and ready to use.

Pros
- USB Ports
- Wireless Remote
- 10-year Warranty
Cons
- Non-Adjustable Leg Height
- Not Available In All Bed Sizes
- Twin XL Reports of Tipping
The Lucid Adjustable Bed Frame comes with a little bit more than the Linenspa as it does have USB ports and a wireless remote with a flashlight and programmable memory.
The legs that the frame comes with are not adjustable, but you can buy additional leg heights as you go through the purchase process. Also, be sure you are clicking on base only if you only want the base. There are links to purchase as a bundle with a mattress.
A big problem to me is that there are reports of the Twin XL tipping when getting to the side of the bed. It doesn’t seem to be an issue on the other sizes, but it’s something you would want to consider.

Pros
- Emergency Battery Back-Up

Cons
- Poor Leg Support
- Massage Motor Loud
As we progress upwards in the price, we are also getting more features. The iDealBed 4i has adjustable leg heights of 4″, 7″, and 11″; however, there are reports of the legs starting to bend and the bed not feeling supported. The massage feature has three intensities and comes with a timer. There are reports of the massage motors being loud.
This iDealBed 4i comes with an emergency battery backup, so if the power goes out, you will still be able to lower the bed. Massage with three intensities comes with a timer. The wireless remote has four preset positions; zero-gravity, anti-snore, lounge, and flat. In addition to the four preset positions, you are also able to program your own. This custom programming makes it so easy to get into the position you found comfortable.

Cons
- Heavy
- Curb-side Delivery
The Sven and Sons Adjustable frame comes with even more features than the other frames reviewed above. Of course, these features do come with an added price. One feature that many people find appealing is its being wall-hugging. Wall-hugging allows the bed to be closer to the wall, especially important in a smaller room.
Another feature, the independent pillow-tilt, is excellent for reading or working on your computer in bed.
An app is available for use on Apple or Android devices. For those who prefer using their phone in place of a remote, this is an excellent option.
White-Glove service is also available with an added cost.
The biggest drawback to the Sven and Sons adjustable frame is its heaviness. If you don’t purchase the white-glove service, be sure to have some extra help for moving it.
As an added note, the site also offers mattresses, so be sure if you want just the base to choose that option. Of course, if you’re looking for a mattress, it may be the one that you’re looking for.

The Dynasty D9000s will probably come up in the conversation when you talk of luxury adjustable bed frames. Talk about bells and whistles, wow. From pillow-tilt to lumbar support to massage should be able to find the position just right for you. Not only that, but it also comes with under-bed lights and a sub-woofer that lets you listen to your favorite music. Though there have been some reports of muffled sounds with the speakers.
White-Glove Service is available and might be a good idea as the frame is very heavy.
